New Zealand back-row forward Luke Jacobson has been ruled from the World Cup because of concussion.
Jacobson played Tonga last week and travelled with the group for the championship in Japan, but the Blacks stated the 22-year-old had endured a”delayed onset of concussion”.
New Zealand Coach Steve Hansen reported the player showed symptoms this week.
Jacobson, who has two caps, will be substituted by Shannon Frizell.
“After discussing this newest episode with Luke, in addition to our health care team, the decision was made to, sadly, withdraw him from the championship,” Hansen informed the All Blacks web site.
“All of us felt that the best thing for him to do is to have a break from rugby until he is symptom-free and ready to return.”
